The World Without Us by Alan Weisman

The author is a gold mine of informations, one is literally overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge in all fields of science... he also provides very deep insights on our past, present and future as society and species.
Something very disappointing is the very flat tone by which all this information is presented, overscientifically neutral and sometimes a bit irritating, as if our destiny was described by an Alien observing us from outer space.
